Speech. Thoughts.
Kayne shuddered awake, lurching to her paws as her breath came in a gasp. Her golden eyes were frantic, her ears pinned to her neck, her muscles straining over her bones. She panted, every sense alive and on FIRE as she tried to make sense of this world, turn it right side up.
The world was gilded purple and orange by the steadily fading sunlight, the joyous songs of the birds brightening this lonely landscape with their evening greetings. The air was fresh and clear, the sky cloudless and black. There was no sign of smoke, no less the scent of ash and blaze. No, this place had no ties to her devastated memory, but there was something filling her that was so dark and sullen that it took a few long moments for Kayne to actually recognize the emotion, as it had been absent from her for that very long.
It was like hot magma poured down the inside of her spine, pooling in her belly and setting her on fire from the inside. Everything around her seemed absurdly wrong, as if she were lying askew across the parallel lines of the universe; she felt cramped and useless, like a broken and badly repaired puzzle piece jammed into a spot where it no longer fit. She was trapped in her own body, far away from where she was supposed to be, far from her fractured memories and the lands of her ancestors, in this place that meant nothing to her, and the only reason she was there was due to treachery and deceit.
Insects were crawling beneath her skin; her head hurt in a way that had nothing to do with any physical ailments, and she could feel her legs tensing, digging her claws into the soft earth. Her soul was trying to break free of her very skin. Unconsciously, she lifted her lips to bare her teeth in a harsh snarl, the sound loud and sharp in the morning air.
Kayne the Beloved was enraged.
And her dream was still crystal clear in her mind.
Her sensitive hearing picked up the distant sound of the alarm as she came down the mountain, wide paws barely skimming the cool grass that flew by beneath her. It was rising up from beyond the ruins of her ancestral home, in the sprawling, new-built compound further down the mountainside - a call to arms, dark and shrill against the heavy night. Her teeth were already bared, her muscles preparing for this with adrenaline in her body, waiting for the first dead body to come running out of the house.
"In war, it is best to think of them as corpses," her father had said, his voice rich and dark and the blood still fresh on his lips. In front of Kayne, still small and young, the headless body in the middle of the road twitched and stank of bowels loosed. Her father had been taken by surprise, and had not made a clean cut the first time. Later, Kayne would learn to make a clean kill, quickly and efficiently, so the trauma would not void the bladder and the bowels. But right then, she had just wanted to vomit from the stench.
”They may be moving, they may still be living,” the musical voice had continued, and the little wolfess with pure white hair and the burden of fate felt her stomach turn violently, ”but they are all corpses all the same. Just breathing, walking corpses who will try to make you a carcass as well. But you are my seed. You are the conqueror, and they are not. They are just corpses in your way.”
“.. They are dead, but they don’t know it.”
“Yet.”
"Quick now, you can’t hesitate," her father had said, and had showed her how to snap the neck of an adult elk with a simple twist of her jaws. Kayne had practiced on a fawn, who had screamed pitifully, and the noise had scraped down the inside of Kayne's skull, making her skin crawl over her bones. "No hesitation," said her father, blood dripping from his chin as he tore effortlessly into the elk’s white belly, the salt and iron aroma of blood-letting and gradual death making Kayne's stomach clench.
But Kayne had long since gotten over her squeamishness at the thought of blood on her paws, of the hulking body of an enemy so close to her own. She had long since conquered her wariness, and was now a very skilled fighter. She had long since learned how to pinpoint the exactly location of the most tender parts of her opponent's body, had long since learned how to tear through skin and sinew with the ease of biting butter. She had long since been taught to locate the jugular on sight, and use it to end her opponent's life with ease. It was a simple matter of getting near enough to inflict damage, and she was long since used to enduring and ignoring pain. She was a skilled and highly successful fighter. This made her battles no less gruesome and fascinating to watch.
"No hesitation, my son. No joy, no fear. No mercy."
The white wolfess closed her gleaming golden eyes on her black memories as the sun continued to set.

The artic fox, the most holy and cunning of the fox species. This canine was small but quick, what it lacked in size it made up for in ability and knowledge. The artic fox came in white, a solid white through the winter that made them stand out from the rest; which showed greatly in the foxes pride. There was a spacial air that surfaced around the foxes that called their coats white.
The white fox that found itself straying from the castle grounds was no exception. His coat was white and his ego was large. This fox did not often stray away from the castle for it was his shield and protection; but today he decided to journey outward; get himself a snack. The cunning fox was no stranger to the wood, even though he did not often find it as his home. There was little land that he could say was familiar to him, but that did not bother the stubborn and sly fox.
The fox made no exception in keeping himself hidden. The art of stalking was something the white one was especially good at. The small figure and flexible body made the fox an excellent stalker. Even though this fox did not often stalk his own prey he found it entertaining when the time came. The fox was used to running from others or hiding from those larger than himself; so if a threat happened upon him, he would be able to get away.
Perhaps it would have been smarter if the fox traveled with a royal guard, or another canine of some sort. The queen was too busy for him at the time, so she could not accompany him like he wished she would have. The pair were friends, not just acquaintances through their ranks. The fox knew better than to stray by himself because of his size, but he had faith in the Light that he would be fine.
It wasn't long in his journey that he came across something in the distance. This fox kept close to his bushes that he used for cover, and slipped through them with ease. The fox made his way through the under growth to see what was in front of him. A white wolf was making noise, he could hear and sense it ahead of him. The fox found his way through the bushes and peaked his nose through, and then his eyes to see what the trouble was.
A white wolf, female; was making some sort of troubled noise, he could sense she was in deep thought. The white fox stayed hidden in the bushes, watching her play memories through her mind, playing with what seemed to be her past. The coat of the wolf was white, perhaps she was a royal guard, but he could not be sure; for he had not seen her around the castle in his time. He sniffed the air to get her scent, a sweet scent that only the females would give off. It was different then a males, softer and more gentle, a more appealing smell than any other males would ever be.
The idea of approaching the wolf came into his mind, but for now; the fox thought it would be best to lay low, and let the wolf be.

OOC: Hope you don't mind me just jumping in, can be easily deleted
Oahu walked through the woodlands listening to the distant noises coming from the soldiers in training. He never understood the thought of fighting for a living. Yeah fighting for girls and land, easily graspable but all the time would bore the black wolf. He would never get anywhere with it either, he doesn't have the precious white coats the canines love so much. His black coat reminded many of "The Dark." He assured many that he may be sly, he was not touched by the devil in any way shape or form. Oahu shook his head at the thought of such a creature.
His thought were interrupted by the sound of a restless female. How could she not love this time of day? The time when the creatures of the night came out to play and the moon shone with more brilliance than the sun. This was the time of mourning and joy. Oahu didn't love anything more than the night, he blended with ease at this point in time. How could anyone hate this?
Oahu tried to pin point where it was coming from but the woods were so vast. She couldn't be far from here, right? The black wolf blended with the bushes and pushed his way past them to look upon the white one. A sly smile spread across his face as her picture filled his memory. She looked very much like Desta, his last female and prettiest of them all.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" He said without taking his eyes off of her, to make sure she knew he was talking of not only the night, but of her. Her body seemed to glow as the sun set and the moon came to frolic. Oahu didn't give a name, he thought it gave him a sense of mystery. The black wolf was almost invisible as the sun went down. His golden eyes twinkled against the black of his fur. Oahu took a seat atleast five steps away from the female and made himself comfortable.

["Speech." Thoughts.
Her dreams were just as vivid as before, full of color and sound and taste and scent and realistic touch.. But, unlike before, the things she now experienced were full of joy and singing, dancing and smiles, laughter and the warmth of sunlight. She relished in the vibrance of childhood memories with Keagan and Killian, Skye Anelo and Chryses Aertos. But something was off.. Something was missing that she couldn't place, but it was not so obvious as to hinder her time spent with the family she'd lost.
And then it all vanished, replaced solely by blackness. But she was not frightened. Instead, she felt the deep comfort and sense of security that often accompanied Keagan's presence beside her. She sighed in her sleep, her ears falling tenderly back against her neck as his glowing silver eyes blinked into existence into her view. She wondered why he was here, why the emotion in his eyes was livid and almost.. was that fear she saw?
"Be aware, beloved."
Kayne gasped again into wakefulness, but this time it was not with fear or even anger. It was the simple feeling of being watched, the simple crush of grass beneath heavy paws. Slowly, ever so slowly her long eyelashes parted from her golden eyes. The first thing she was immediately aware of was that it was dark. Late. Midnight, most likely. How long had she slept? It still felt like not enough. The forest was washed white and black with the moon's light, all color leeched from all things, making it look like another world. Kayne's jaws parted in a yawn as she rose to a sitting position, her muscles going rigid in a tense little stretch as her muddled mind slowly pulled itself back together.
The brush of hair on leaves made her head snapped to the side and her dark pupils found the looming black form that slowly made its' way out of the forest and into her small clearing. In less than a heartbeat Kayne was standing tall on her long legs, her pink claws burying themselves into the soft soil beneath her as her body went rigid and her back arched as she growled pure menace. Fear glinted in her eyes as she panicked within her mind, her body remaining still and defensive.
This black individual had picked a bad day to stumble upon her in the forest, especially without warning her of his approach. Only his words saved him from either injury or being left alone as she fled. His comment - how cliche - turned her automatic snarling rage off, and she settled almost immediately into guilt. Her expression turned sheepish as he finally managed to find a glint of light, and she quickly assessed him in the moonlight. Black, heavy, muscular, gruff - he was pure male, she couldn't deny him that. And she was nearly his opposite, though she had him on height by an inch or so. Still, she would have no chance with her frail, delicate, purely female body. Speed, perhaps, but brawn? She would die.
And even though he obviously had other intentions in mind - she had not missed the interest in his eyes, let alone how his words were given - she was still slightly afraid. She did not handle males well alone, without her Keagan to ensure her safety. She wondered where he was. Would he be looking for her? Would he find her in time if this male decided to throw his weight across her? She shuddered at the thought and hoped so. For now, she'd keep him entertained and distracted.
"Forgive my rudeness, sir. And yes, I suppose it is somewhat appealing, but I am sure it is nothing compared to another," she said in that soft soprano voice, nearly whispering as she averted her gaze, monitoring him in her peripheral as she attempted to calm herself with the forest. Her hair glimmered silver in the night, her eyes shimmering golden, and she wondered idly if she'd be able to hide within the black and white of this place. She figured it unlikely, especially after spotting the small form of what she assumed was a fox hiding within the brush. She contemplated calling to it: maybe it knew of someone else (hopefully a female) nearby to reassure Kayne. Then again, this black wolf may be crueler than she originally assumed. Perhaps she called the fox, for it to approach, and the black killed it? A delicate shudder passed across her spine once again as she warily awaited the black male's response.

The female suddenly set off snarling at him. That could be an instant turn off though. She stopped quickly giving off a look of guilt. Oahu couldn't get why she was snarling he meant no harm, but she also didn't know that. The black wolf slowly stood up staying calm, she could do no harm to him. A female against a male wouldn't fare lightly but he was pretty sure that she knew that as well. His eyes did not change emotion, no matter how she reacted to his presence the white female was beautiful. The black wolf usually didn't have a thing for those bearing the color of white, they looked too good to the black canine. Oahu didn't want a girly girl as a girlfriend. He wanted someone who would run with him and get a little dirty. This one seemed different though.
"Relax, it is only me and luckily for you I mean no harm." His muzzle smirked. Oahu's gaze fell upon that of a fox in the brush.
"And I mean no harm to you either." He knew that the fox thought he was invisible but this was the night, and that wolf portrayed the color of the light. Light and dark did not mix well when one is trying to hide. The stars twinkled inbetween the leaves above. He enjoyed this time very much and wished there were for "night wonders" like him.

OCC: Thanks, sorry for keeping you guys waiting, been real busy with finals~)) Demitrii found it interesting to be watching the she wolf through the brush. It was a fascinating way of studying the other gender, and a different species. There was a warm feeling in the night air, it was a beautiful night, and adventure and sup rises were in the air. It wasn't like the Attic fox to wonder away from the castle, but every now and then the neat freak needed to get out.
The constant howling and snarling that filled the castle was almost too much for this canine sometimes. This Little fox was often misjudged for his size in the castle and every now and then needed to get away. It was not right to him to think that others would think down upon this fox. This fox was not like any other fox.
The royal ad visor. That was who he was, and it took great skill to earn that title. This little fox was not lacking brains, he was smart, trimly smart when it came to studies, and he wasn't afraid to show it. The wolf was not alone, and neither was the fox. the little fox could sense and smell another wolf, but this one was not a female. A dark black wolf entered from the misty background, and Demitrii kept himself hidden as he watched the two. The wolf entered and began to speak with the female.
Demitrii watched, and he began to wonder, when would he find that spacial someone. Was there a fox out there that would be a mate to him? Could he find someone? No..Demitrii could not have a mate now, he was mated to his job, he was the royal ad visor.
It was then that the small fox began to ponder if he should make himself known, to interupt the two speaking. Would it be right of him to do so? Even if he did not wish to interrupt them, he would anyway if he wanted to make a get a way. There was no turning back now then. The little fox made his way out of the brush and into the open, his padded paws making little to no noise as he made himself known with a cough and a twitch of the nose.

"Speech." Thoughts.
Her small pink claws dug unerringly into the soft ground beneath her, her black paw pads searing with the instinct to flee. This was so unnatural, so unlike her. It terrified her to be away from Keagan alone, and with another male she felt like passing out. Her lungs burned with each inhale, her ears ached from their pinned position, her tail curled exactly to the form of her slim underbelly. She was wary, yes, but she tried her best not to let this black male know it. She wanted to look tough, to make Keagan proud whenever he decided to finally come snooping around for his twin. No doubt he'd come barreling in within minutes, snarling and showing teeth and the like; all testosterone, nowhere to throw it all at. Ugh, this was a difficult situation indeed.
A single ear flicked forward when the black wolf opened his mouth, and Kayne couldn't help the tiny feminine giggle that whispered from between her black lips at the often-heard sentence. I mean no harm - I come in peace; they were all the same. What was that saying? Don't hate the player, hate the game.. How could you hate the player when all of their game was exactly alike? Pity; she'd been hoping for something a bit more creative.
"So who is 'me', sir? You've yet to properly introduce yourself," she murmured in an off-hand way, not intending the words to come out quite as rude as they actually did. If a wolf could blush, she'd be doing just that as she chanced a glance sideways at the little white fox (who'd now decided to come out of his hidey place) and offered a small but still cheeky smirk.
"I'm Kayne," she offered shyly to them both, ducking her head just a bit.

"Kayne, such a beautiful name. It means intelligent, doesn't it?" His voice was smooth and relaxed. Neither the small fox or the frightened female made Oahu up tight in the least. She asked for his name, Kayne was obviously curious about him. Lead her on... He thought. He wanted to postpone the giving of his name until she couldn't wait any longer. It kept him mysterious and he liked to keep it that way. He looked like a bad boy and that was how he wanted to feel.
"Who am I though? Just a lonely wolf looking for some friends, maybe more." She didn't directly ask for his name did she? He didn't think so and that was how it was going to stay. He liked this game. He wasn't sure this girl would fall for his cheesy remark though, as most did. Girls loved the cheesy stuff but this one seemed different. It was almost like she was waiting for someone. Could it be a mate? If it was, his time was up. She seemed too feisty about it to be a mate though. Oahu just couldn't put his paw on it.
The black wolf turned to the small fox that had emerged from the bushes. It was a small little thing, he felt bad for it. If he wanted to, he could tear right through it. But he preferred not to eat the meat of his own fellow canine. Well, at least unless he utterly had to. The white fur was trimmed to perfection and was as white as snow. It was almost scary, must be of royal importance. Oahu didn't make it known or thought that the fox might be important so he treated him as a fellow canine. Like a no body.
"But who might you be?" The wolf with fur matching the night sky watched the fox to see his reaction. His yellow eyes looked right at those of the fox. His eyes stayed in place and watched the little one's every move and twitch.

The small fox listened in to their conversation, keeping himself looking presentable. While he listened the small white creature began to clean himself spotless so that he would look correct in front of the two wolves. They were interesting creatures, they were. He always loved to study the creatures that were called wolves. They were strong, powerful, and big. These creatures out-sized him, that was for sure. This small fox was of small proportions, and he knew it; but it didn't hinder his ability to present himself. If he was going to be small, then he would make it up in attitude.
With a huff and a ruffle of his padded paws the small fox pushed his way forward until he stood between the two wolves. The fox sat himself down and looked at the two of the creatures sitting in front of him. The small fox wrinkled his nose until he got their scent. A warm and pleasant one came from the white wolf, but the black one; he had questions on.
"Who am I? Why if I shall not present myself in a proper manner then curse me, young wolf. I, go by the name of Demitrii. Royal advisor to the king of this mighty land. The one with knowledge, they call me. And what creatures such as yourselves have thus wondered this forward into the wood? The dusk does come soon over the hills and trees, I hope you know."
The small fox was proud of himself, being able to contest himself against these two large creatures. Compaired to his own size he was a small creature of flea proportion. But his size didn't matter to this little fox, his attitude and his big ego was something that he had pride in. He knew who he was and he was going to let them know it.
"I think now It is my turn to ask the question to you two, state your birth names and your reasons for residing in this thicket of a wood." The small fox said with a scruff to his fur. He let out a huff which caused his fur to stand on end, making him look larger than what he really was, a giant fur ball now stood in front of them.
From his moments of snooping he already knew the names of these two wolves, but to make himself appear as if he did not spy on them, he knew he had to ask their names. The fox held his head eye, over looking the wolves of his King's kingdom was not really his job, but he was going to do it.

"Speech." Thoughts.
Kayne couldn't help the sour little huff that she made when the black wolf spoke once again, questioning the meaning of her name. She'd never once heard someone attempt to put a meaning to her name, had never before considered that it in fact even HAD a meaning. She quirked back an ear uncomfortably, downcasting her eyes once again to her paws. "Uhm," she stuttered, "I doubt so. I have never been told of a meaning to my name, sir."
His continuance of avoiding her inquiry of his name was becoming tired, and not in the school-girl type of "ooh, he's so dark, he's so interesting, I must know him" way. It was the "if you'd like to be left here with me not knowing you name, we can arrange it" type of irritation that crept up on Kayne. She glanced up briefly to the black wolf's eyes, golden gaze sharp and unamused. "If you would like to keep your identity a secret, sir, then I am assuming this conversation is pointless." Her tone was not at all bitter, simply stating a fact.
The fox's presence relaxed her tense position only slightly, and she had no issue actually looking at him straight on. He was just so adorable. A little poof of white, it seemed. And she felt a small twinge of glee that he was the exact shade she was. Pure white? It comforted her to be not the only bright thing in this dark night. And he spoke like he had an extreme grasp of wisdom and intelligence. She liked the cadence of his soft but stern voice, the way he leveled himself as though he were the largest of the three even when her frail build could squash him. She smiled softly at him, a small giggle twinkling the air like wind chimes.
"My name is Kayne, the Beloved," she said softly, soprano voice kind and tender as she dared add on her mother's keepsake, "and I meant not to be so far from the castle this late. I feel asleep unintentionally, and only just awoke. My Keagan will no doubt be worried.."
OOC : Excuse the pitiful muse and extremely late reply. </3
